Prompt Engineering Introduction
Definition: Prompt engineering is the skill of writing clear instructions (prompts) that get an AI model to produce the result you actually want. The same AI can give a weak or an excellent answer depending entirely on how you ask.
Tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini are incredibly capable, but they cannot read your mind. A vague request gets a vague reply. A precise, well-structured prompt gets a focused, useful one. That difference is what this course teaches.
Why this skill is worth learning
- Save time — get the right answer on the first try instead of the fifth
- Better quality — sharper writing, cleaner code, more accurate summaries
- Career value — prompt skills are now wanted in marketing, support, writing, and engineering roles

Write about dogs.
Write a friendly 100-word intro for a blog post helping first-time owners choose a dog breed for small apartments. Use a warm tone and end with a question.
Both ask about dogs. Only one will get you something you can publish. By the end of this course you will write prompts like the second one naturally.
💡 This is a reading course — no code to run. Just study the examples and apply the patterns in your own AI tool.
