Iterate and Refine Your Prompts

Principle: Prompting is a conversation, not a one-shot. Your first prompt is a draft. You improve the result by giving feedback and adjusting, just like editing.

The refine loop

  1. Write your best first prompt
  2. Read the answer — what is missing or wrong?
  3. Give specific feedback and ask again
  4. Repeat until it is right

Feedback that works

Refining follow-ups

Good start. Now make it shorter and more casual.

Keep the second point, drop the rest, and add a real-world example.

That is too formal. Rewrite it like you are texting a friend.

You do not have to start over

Because the AI remembers the current conversation, you can build on its last answer instead of rewriting your whole prompt. Small nudges often get you there faster.

💡 Tip: when a prompt finally works well, save it. You have just created a reusable template (the next lesson).
